Kevin A.Lochhead B.D.S.(LOND),M.F.G.D.P.(R.C.S.Eng)
Since qualifying from Kings College London in 1987, Dr Lochhead has committed himself to intensive postgraduate training, following both international and British training pathways. He believes in keeping himself and his team abreast of current dental research and developments; his aim being to reach for ever higher standards in the provision of dental care. Dr. Lochhead's special interests lie in complex reconstruction, dental implants and cosmetic dentistry. His background of general dentistry places him ideally for managing complex patient care between the required clinicians and specialist services. Dr.
Lochhead lectures on dental implants and restorative dentistry and is currently
Diploma Tutor for the East of Scotland branch of the Faculty of General Dental
Practitioners. Dr Lochhead holds a part time teaching position on the Master of
Science Degree course in Primary Dental Care at Glasgow Dental Hospital. He is
a member of The Association of Dental Implantology, The American Equilibration
Society, The British Society of Occlusal Studies, the British Society of Restorative
Dentistry, British Society of Periodontology and the British Dental Association.
Crawford
A. Bain After
spending nine years in general practice in Scotland and Canada, Dr. Bain completed
speciality training in Periodontics and Prosthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania
in 1981. Since then he has been at various times Director of Occlusion; Head of
Periodontics and Director of Implant Dentistry at Dalhousie University, Canada.
In 1990-1991 he was the Branemark Surgical Implant Fellow at UCLA, USA where his
research into Implants and Smoking resulted in the Osseointegration Foundation/Quintessence
Publishing Company Award for the best scientific article in the International
Journal of Oral and Maxillo-Facial Implants in 1993. He has maintained a specialist
practice since 1981, returning to Scotland in 1995. He is presently part-time
senior lecturer in Dental Primary Care, University of Glasgow. Dr Bain is certified
by the General Dental Council of Great Britain as a specialist in Periodontics,
Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry. Glenn E.Lello B.D.S.,F.D.S.R.C.S.EDIN./ENG.,I.,R.C.P.,M.R.C.S.,M.B.B.C.H.,F.R.C.S.,PH.D. After qualifying in dentistry
in South Africa in 1971, further dental, medical and maxillo-facial training was
undertaken in America, Britain and Switzerland. Currently a Consultant NHS oral
and maxillo-facial surgical post is held in Edinburgh. Alastair MacDonald B.D.S.,M.S.D. Qualified
from Glasgow University (BDS) in 1985. After five years in general practice, working
in the Glasgow area, he entered the speciality of Endodontics. A two-year Masters
Degree programme (MSD) at Indiana University was completed in 1992. Upon return
to Glasgow, Alastair has established the first Endodontic practice in Scotland.
Robert Lawson B.D.S.,F.D.S.,M.S.C.D.M.ORTH. After
qualifying from Dundee University (BDS) in 1989 with Honours, Dr. Lawson worked
in hospital posts in Dundee, Canterbury and Glasgow. He gained F.D.S.,R.C.S.(Ed)
in 1992, then went on to do a three year M. Orth. MSD speciality programme in
Orthodontics in Cardiff, graduating in 1996. He was awarded the gold medal in
M. Orth., and returned to Scotland in 1996 to work in specialist orthodontic practice.
Prosthodontics
Since graduating from Sheffield
University in 1978, Judith Lello has undertaken extensive postgraduate training.
Three years were spent at Zurich Dental Institute, Switzerland, undertaking teaching,
research and patient management; following which, in collaboration with Sheffield
University, a Masters degree was awarded. One year in Johannesberg, South Africa,
at the University of Witwatersand, preceded returning to the UK in 1988 to practice
for two years in the Manchester region. Since moving to Edinburgh in 1990, a special
interest in advanced restorative work and a commitment to postgraduate and research
activities has been maintained
Dental
Hygienists and Dental Nurses
Qualified as a dental
hygienist in 1980. June has worked for a number of years in General practice.
She was made Senior Tutor Dental Hygienist at the Edinburgh Dental hospital where
she was responsible for the education of student dental hygienists over an eight
year period. June has worked abroad and until moving back to Edinburgh in middle
of 1999, worked in a number of practices in the West End of London.
Completed National
certificate in Dental Nursing May 1997, Jolisa has had 4 years of experience in
general dental practice and joined us in October 1999. Jolisa works in close chairside
assistance to Dr Lochhead and is developing her management and practical skills
with a view to expanding her role within the practice.
Sadie comes to the
practice as Dr Lello's close chairside assistant of four years. She has completed
her first years training for her National certificate in Dental Nursing.
Lynne is
currently completing a full time dental nursing training course at Telford College
part of which allows for 2 days a week on site training in the practice. Prior
to starting her dental nurse training Lynne worked for Boots the Chemist where
she received a commendation certificate for customer service.
Liz is
a qualified dental nurse and teaches at Telford College where she holds the position
of Senior Dental Nurse Tutor. Liz has a part time position within the practice.
Since starting with us in 1995 Liz has achieved qualifications in Oral Health
Education and Dental Radiography.
Susie is
a qualified Registered General Nurse of 12 years standing, Also holding qualifications
in sick childrens nursing,the management of asthma and general practice nursing
Susie elected to turn her efforts to full time practice management in 1996 and
has since completed many courses in dental practice management with a specific
interest in personnel management. Susie is responsible for organising, and in
many cases carrying out: staff training, the preparation of contracts, selection
and interviewing of new team members, the preparation and updating of practice
protocols.
Chris has been a
dental practice receptionist for twelve years before joining us in 1996. Since
that time she has developed her knowledge of advanced dental care and skills in
customer service.
Jaquie was employed
for over ten years in sales management before making the move to dental practice
reception in 1999. The moved has proved to be rewarding for all concerned as Jaquie
brings many years of customer service to her front desk position.
