Dr Bain started working with dental implants in 1980 in Dalhouise University, in Canada. Dr Bains main area of research has been in establishing the effects of smoking on implant success. His research resulted in the development of a protocol, which allows smokers to achieve similar success rates to non-smokers in implant integration. Dr Bain is regularly invited to present at international implant meetings. more details

Karen Murray joined the practice in 1996 and now has a central position within the team. It is Karen who most patients will talk to initially, she has attended many training courses in order to be able to answer initial questions regarding suitability for dental implants and what is involved. Her dental nurse and surgical training mean that she offers continuity of contact for every patient throughout their implant treatment. Karen is responsible for liasing with referring dentists, their patients and Dr Lochhead and Dr. Bain. She works chairside with Dr Bain during the placement of the implants - an extension of her duties for which she was trained by the Nobel Biocare surgical training staff. more details
