A thin layer of porcelain is bonded to the front of the tooth in order to change the shape and possibly the colour if desired. Generally the underlying tooth is reduced by the amount of space needed for the porcelain. If the tooth already has fillings in place then these would be removed and incorporated into the porcelain veneer. These are the least invasive dental restorations, and because of their translucent and life like quality, the most aesthetic.
